Political Terror I was chillin' at the crib watchin' the news when this story caught my attention. I was like "Damn!" I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Alot of people will see this piece and just be like "fuck it, this doesn't effect me," but the fact is, this effects a hell of a lot of people we all know.
I personally see it as politicians implementing psychological warfare to push their agendas. Most of us aren't aware of the laws as they pertain to being a convicted felon. Nor the rights they retain or lose upon re-entering society following their bids.
Let's not get it twisted. "Every" state has its own laws regarding this issue, and there isn't alot of pre-release education on the topic being done by the prison system prior to release.
By the numbers, the black community has the largest percentage of convicted felons residing within its community. There also exist an inate distrust of law enforcement and political types within this community as well. So with both of these factors in place, I see the potential to deter a large number of voters from the polls in the next election.
This loss of potential voters could sway a close election. I believe that this is all fall out of last falls "historic" election. Remember, alot of areas that were traditionally "red" areas became "blue" areas with the increased voter registration in a lot of southern states. Pay attention people, there's something happening here.
