fuck curtis jackson! yeah, i said that. the nigga “50 Cent” is back! see, being the type of dude that I am, and comin’ from the back ground that I come from, I love to hear real gangsta rap.
I love to hear an emcee on the mic that spits and takes you on a sonic trip, taste and smell. When 50 is on top of his shit, there ain’t many cats rappin’ that can fuck with dude delivering a sonic excursion of the gangsta variety to the listener.
“i line niggas” starts our sonic trip into the gutter. this is definitely a cut niggas will be rollin’ thru the hood bangin’ at 3 o’clock in the mornin’ lookin’ for some shit to get into. you hear a nigga bangin’ this one, just know he might be on one.
next up, “talking in codes.” the tempo is a bit too fast for me personally, but the cut is cool. I’d probably skip this track in the ride or ipod though (keepin’ it real). “ok ya” is another track I’d probably skip too. again, not a bad song, just too fast for me. i aint really tryin’ to hear this nigga 50 talkin’ all that ballin’ shit. street talk is what I’m about, and “redrum” brings us back to it.
50 gets real angry on this joint from the jump! aint shit like aggression in rap. 50 gets back to the grimy routine of jackin’, bustin’ caps, and givin’ us some of the best new york street talk I’ve heard in a minute (especially from him).
the wu classic C.R.E.A.M. gets a 2009 face life next, and 50 keeps the gangsta shit poppin’! the first time I heard the cut I kind of slept on it, but after the second run through, yeah, it’s official.
halfway thru the CD 50 starts getting all romantic and shit. I really think this nigga believes he’s a sex symbol or some shit, so I’m gonna give the nigga a pass.
I do think 50 hit a home run on “I’ll do anything” though. this nigga is straight hilarious! I haven’t heard anything like this one since NWA’s “I’d Rather Fuck You” on the EFIL4ZAGGIN cd. “London girl” was one of the tracks that took me a few listens to feel, and “better come with you’re a game” was on that same page. the cd gets back on its square with “get my message” and the robin thicke blessed “cocaine.”
50 closes out this demonstration by tellin’ niggas exactly what he feels on “i gotta win.” i’ll say it one more time, aggression! 50 got it in for real on this one, even if you a 50 hater, you gotta love seein’ 50 back at his menacing best.
